Incredibly Dishonest Marketwatch Piece

Some hack writer with the last name of Nut(ting) produced one of the most intellectually dishonest pieces of garbage I have ever seen. This writer blames the 2009 budget deficit on Bush, because, you know when a president leaves office,the next year's budget is supposed to be prepared by the previous administration. His conclusion is that Obama HAS NOT increased spending much, LOL!

What this liar neglects to mention is that the 2009 budget included hundreds of billions of dollars of stimulus waste, approved by OBAMA and the Democratic congress, not Bush. Now recall that the budget grew over $500 billion from 2008 to 2009, never mind that the '07 and '08 budgets were also products of a Dem congress. He also neglects to mention the $200mm in TARP spending that Bush recommended killing because it was not needed, but Obama decided to spend anyway. Obama himself even had the nerve to quote this article in a Colorado campaign speech, ever the liar that he is and probably the first time he ever quoted something from a WSJ publication. That anyone could believe this fiction is totally laughable. The Wall Street Journal should be embarrassed that they allowed this crap to be published.

As I have written before, Europe has two choices: they can allow or force the weak nations to leave, or they will need to crank up the Euro printing presses. By now you have probably heard that JP Morgan lost $2 billion dollars on some credit derivatives trades that were originally designed to be a hedge but did not work out that way. Shameless know-nothing Democratic pols are lining up to criticize JP and call for tougher banking regs. In addition, the Justice Department is launching a probe. There is blood in the water. Well, here is a little perspective.

1) JP Morgan will likely make $18 billion in net income this year after the loss, and made the same net last year.

2) JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon was a big Dem and Obama booster in '08 but has turned a vocal critic. I bet if this happened to Warren Buffett the government would be happy to look the other way.

3) I don't remember Democratic politicians being outraged when Dem big-wig John Corzine WIPED OUT MF Global to the tune of billions and possibly misappropriated investor money.

4) Since when did losing money become a crime?

There is an alarming trend in this country for the liberal-progressive media to not report black on white crime. Most recently in the Norfolk Virginia case and now in the brutal beating of a soldier in Tampa. White, Hispanic or Asian violence against blacks is usually racially motivated and a hate crime, but the reverse is never true in the eyes of far-left Dem politicians, race hustlers and their lib media enablers. For them, the perps are the REAL victims, having been mistreated by society. They are "excused" because they are "less fortunate".

The truth is that far-left elites have the patronizing attitude that the criminals don't know better. The left does not want uniform laws, they want them to be fluid and adjustable depending on who is the perp and who is the victim. Their hypocrisy disgusts me.

The Technocratic Mind

A liberal author has written a new book on the Obama economic team that takes a somewhat critical look and has some revealing quotes about the egos, narcissism and almost pathetic need for affirmation that the President exhibits. The rest of the book appears to be the typical liberal jibber-jabber about how GOP obstruction, Democratic concession and too-little stimulus derailed the recovery. As with most libs who have no understanding of economics, he believes that central planning is the only way. The author totally misses that perhaps the Obama policy was all bad. Nonetheless, some of the passages in the attached article are interesting, such as the description of Obama as messianic.

What the author perhaps unintentionally shows is that government technocrats cannot successfully manage a large, complex, diverse economy, whether it is currently vibrant or not. They best thing that government can do is create stability and certainty and get out of the way. The Obama economic team has done none of this. Much like a doctor, the first role of a government is to do no harm.

Real Business Investment Lagging

As this article points out, real business nonresidential fixed investment is seriously lagging in the US, putting a drag on GDP growth and employment. This is largely due to bad government policy under Obama. If he wanted to get re-elected, the President would cut corporate and capital gains taxes and roll back regulation, but he does the opposite. He has no concept of how the economy works.

I predict that the next six months will bring slower growth, possibly higher unemployment and more financial market turmoil, especially if Europe implodes. None of this bodes well for Obama.
