Sick of being forced to pay for someone else's birth control? Sick of HHS ninnies taking away your pre-schooler's lunch because it is not healthy enough? Sick of the Labor Department telling you where you can build a plant? Sick of the administration's environmental nuts telling you what you can do with your property? Everything else is noise, ignore it. And don’t take the bait on Obama’s class warfare nonsense – that only appeals to hard-core libs and the poor, and that is all the joker has to run on.

Insurance Mandate is Not Just about Religion

It is a FREEDOM issue. That is why everyone but liberals, leftists, and Marxists should be outraged by Obama's mandate. By my calculation that is 70-80% of the country.

If you non-Catholics or non-religious types want to sit this one out because "it's just about religion and contraception", don't kid yourself. If this stands it will simply embolden the statists running our government and next they will try some mandate that will infringe on your rights.

As an aside, as supportive of the Catholic Church as I am, they should have seen this one coming. This is what they get for largely supporting Obamacare in the name of "social justice" or some nonsense.

Nick Saban Will Do Anything to Win

Despite the NCAA's and SEC's attempts to reign in some of the more questionable recruiting practices, there are a few coaches who will always push the envelope. Nick Saban of Alabama is exhibit #1, he of the recent two BCS titles and numerous #1 recruiting classes.

Saban, who has been one of the biggest practitioners of over-signing, "greyshirting" - sending a kid to JC when a scholarship is not available, and running off non-performers yanked two long-running offers from kids recently when a couple of primo recruits switched their commitment to Alabama. Those involved were none too happy. Allowable? Yes. Ethical? Not so much. Saban's record in college, if not the NFL, speaks for itself. But he has shown that he only cares about one thing: winning.

I wonder when these tactics will start to wear thin on recruits?

GOP Primaries

The GOP primary season is fast becoming a disaster in my humble opinion. With Obama's miserable failure of a presidency, the Republicans went from looking like a shoe-in to practically ensuring his reelection in a matter of months.

Romney has been playing the political equivalent of the four-corners offense, simply stalling in hopes of a win. He takes no chances, doesn't answer attacks and seems dumbfounded when questions about his business experience and taxes are raised. At times he barely appears to have a pulse. Despite his recent surge due to his fiery personality and well-timed attack on the media, Gingrich is erratic, a big-government Republican, rates low on likeability and will seem to do anything to win. The Dems must be watching the mud-slinging going on with glee, led by the truly odious Ron Paul. Was it not Reagan who said "speak no ill of fellow Republicans"? Boy, how far have we come!

There is still time as much of this rancor will be forgotten by November. I am still in Romney's camp but this guy better start showing some spunk soon or it will be over. Maybe there is still time to draft Daniels or Ryan.

It seems the Volcker Rule, which would prevent banks from prop trading (using their own money to take risk) applies to all sovereign debt except....wait for it...US Treasuries! Why? Because the US is so in debt that OF COURSE we want our banks to load up on it and make bets on interest rates. But the debt of foreign countries, some of which may soon be better credits than the US is TOO RISKY, so we have to prevent banks from owning these securities.

During times of stress this type of moronic legislation could create a liquidity crisis. The Canadians are not pleased. I suggest that other countries ban their banks from owning our crap paper. That would teach Obozo and the other clowns in DC who supported this piece of garbage.
