Eco-Clowns Descend On Detroit
The Obama administration is apparently descending on the Detroit Auto Show to do some sort of perverse victory lap. If Detroit had any guts they would give these clowns the proverbial middle finger, as all of them would destroy the industry if their policies passed en masse.
While on the subject of the Chevy Volt, it has been an unmitigated disaster. It has sold a mere 7000 units while sucking up over $2 billion in taxpayer funds - that is nearly a whopping $300,000 per car! It has also generated large losses for Chevy. Now it is being recalled due to battery fires. And it is not just an economic disaster, it is a bad product that nobody wants. It is slow, has poor range and appears to be cheaply made. The Volt is the worst example of bad government planning and crony capitalism.
The Volt boondoggle points out why unrestrained and unchallenged government spending is so bad. Capital is wasted and lost forever. Productivity drops dramatically. The economy is harmed. These facts are lost on Obama, DC liberals and the few liberal economists like Paul Krugman and Austan Goolsbee, all of whom believe that all government spending is good and more is better.
